The royal family’s annual Christmas Carol service would see Kate Middleton in action alongside her kids but this year’s holiday fest holds more appeal. After well over eight months away from the public eyes save for a few appearances, the Princess of Wales made a triumphant comeback with a touching video announcing the completion of her chemotherapy session. While her remission status remains undisclosed, the 42-year-old is keen on returning to her working life, undertaking several official duties within the first few days of her return.
The palace confirmed that Kate Middleton attended a meeting on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Windsor Castle to discuss her holiday plans with members of her team. Her meeting, which had team reps from Kensington Palace and the Royal Foundation in attendance was confirmed in the court circular, containing the list of all duties members of the royal family carry out. The content, published in The Times read simply,
“The Princes of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this morning held a meeting at Windsor Castle.”
This meeting in preparation for this year’s Christmas Carol marks the second meeting officially listed since Kate Middleton announced the completion of her chemotherapy. The princess plans to go all out with the annual holiday concert, airing it on select UK TV stations on Christmas Eve.
While it would not be the first to air in the UK, the concert would mark another major public engagement for the princess following her cancer recovery. Notably, the Christmas Carol would have Kate Middleton slip out of her shell completely, after months under the radar.
As royal fans would know, the royal family has made a point of keeping the princess’ public outings to a minimum since announcing her cancer diagnosis in June. Even after her quiet return to royal duties post-chemo, the family has maintained the same modus operandi, refraining from sharing snaps of the princess on official engagements as with her last two meetings held this month. They would break away from this no-camera policy in December as the world anticipates the fourth iteration of Kate’s annual carol concert which customarily airs on TV on Christmas Eve. Despite the many ups and downs 2024 brought along for the royals, this year would be no exception.
