Kate Middleton would proceed as planned with her annual royal family Christmas concert despite Queen Camilla’s latest health emergency. It’s been a tough year for the British royals, as several senior members battled one health predicament or the other, from King Charles and Kate to Princess Anne. The latest family member to record a health challenge is the Queen consort, Camilla, who came down with a chest infection.
Her health situation has prompted the Queen to cancel a lineup of royal engagements, including missing the 2024 Royal Variety performance in London, which the King ended up attending alone. If her condition progresses, Queen Camilla might have to axe more activities to focus on her health, and Kate Middleton’s annual Christmas carol concert may take a hit. However, the 77-year-old’s absence would not deter the Princess of Wales from moving forward with her Carol plans.
Kate Middleton Moves Forward With Concert Despite Queen Camilla’s Health
Speaking to GB News, royal historian Garreth revealed that while it has been a tough year for the royals, the family, like many, considers Christmas a season of hope and renewal. Hence, having people gather for the carol concert to celebrate the season would be a wonderful experience. The historian acknowledged that while joyous, Christmas expectedly brings its fair share of health issues as typical of Winter. Hence, many, like Queen Camilla, may eventually have health reasons not to attend Kate Middleton’s Christmas concert. He reflected,
“It is worth remembering that in the way the Queen has had a chest infection, people might have to miss it on health grounds. Short term, it’s the same with Christmas services up and down the country.”
Regardless of the possibility that Queen Camilla and many others may have to sit out the upcoming carol service, Kate Middleton remains undeterred in her quest to make this year’s concert a success. Garreth concluded,
“I think everyone who can be there, will be there.”
That number is just right for Kate Middleton, who has been working eagerly to bring her Christmas concert to life on December 6.
Kate’s Relationship With Camilla Reportedly “Tensed” Amid Health Challenges
Notably, this year’s Christmas service is particularly important to the Princess of Wales, who spent most of her year off the radar, battling an undisclosed form of cancer. Upon announcing the completion of her chemo sessions in September, the 42-year-old moved right onto her Carol plans, hosting her first meeting post-cancer to discuss just that. While the list of attendees is uncertain, the Middletons, including Kate’s parents and siblings, as well as Kate’s three kids and husband would most certainly grace the concert like previous years. Meanwhile, King Charles’ attendance may be hinged on his wife’s presence, making it uncertain as well.
Earlier this week, a source suggested the relationship between Kate and her mother-in-law may not be as simple as it appears on the surface. According to the source, the duo have always had a “tense relationship,” so much that the Queen feels reluctant to watch Kate become queen someday. Despite the supposed rivalry, Kate has been credited with helping Prince William draw closer to his stepmom following her marriage into the royal family. The two also have some shared moments in public, captured in photos that easily pass them off as loving in-laws.
