Kate Middleton honors an official engagement in Windsor, marking her first return to public duties post-chemotherapy amid her grueling cancer battle. Earlier this month, the Princess of Wales shared joyful news with the world, announcing a big milestone in her cancer battle as she completed chemo. Although the announcement did not mention whether she was completely cancer-free, the 42-year-old revealed she looked forward to returning in her full capacity as a working royal in the coming months. By the looks of it, her return came sooner than expected.
Kate Middleton, who has been working from home and following up with some of her projects remotely, stepped out on Tuesday for an official engagement at Windsor Castle. The Court Circular, containing the official record of the activities of members of the royal family confirmed the princess attended a meeting relating to her early years’ childhood project.
She met with Center for Early Childhood team members, as well as the Kensington Palace Staff members in her capacity as the patron, and pioneer of the project. The entry read,
“The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.”
Her attendance at the meeting marks Kate Middleton’s low-key return to official engagement after months away from public duties to focus on cancer treatment. The mother of three’s move to make her comeback via the early childhood project is quite symbolic. Kate has made no secret of her fondness for the project, which is dear to her heart.
Even as she battled cancer and underwent daunting chemotherapy sessions, Kate Middleton endeavored to stay abreast of the tiniest details about the project with regular updates from team members. Weeks after making her cancer diagnosis public, Kensington Palace revealed despite her absence, Kate continued to follow up on the research of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood Shaping Us Project, which she kickstarted in January.
The early childhood initiative aims to examine the importance of early years development in children, and how it affects “today’s hardest social challenges such as addiction, family breakdown, poor mental health, suicide, and homelessness,” per the Royal Family website. Kate Middleton considers this initiative her life’s work and has remained dedicated to it even in her toughest moments. It only makes sense that this project became the official engagement to finally pull her out of her shell after months under the radar.
