On Monday, Kensington Palace came out to refute a recent rising rumor about Kate’s cancer treatment. In recent weeks, rumors began to say the Princess of Wales had been spotted in the United States. Several have claimed she was seen in Houston, Texas, which boasts a robust medical community.
As the rumor picked up speed on Reddit and TikTok, the Houston Chronicle reached out to Kensington Palace for comment. The Palace wrote back and informed them that the notion the Princess of Wales is “being treated at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is false.”
Some find it hard to believe Kate Middleton would be in the United States. That said, many are intrigued by the idea she’s not currently in the United Kingdom.
Some have pointed out that the Princess of Wales could be elsewhere in Europe receiving treatment. There could be some diplomatic allowances to get the privacy needed. Still, it is hard for the royals to control a narrative outside their own borders. They do have a lot of resources they can stand to import if need be.
The overarching idea is that if Kate is elsewhere, it explains why there hasn’t been a single sighting of her since Christmas. In theory, we have seen Kate in the market paparazzi photos and her cancer announcement video. As more sources make conflicting claims about Kate Middleton’s condition and future, more questions arise. While Kensington Palace shut down one rumor with their statement, it gives credence to others they haven’t commented on. Of course, not all the rumors can simultaneously be true.
By all means, Kate should be afforded some privacy during this time. Furthermore, that belief can exist simultaneously with the idea that other royals have not been afforded that privacy. There’s inequity there, and fans will undoubtedly draw their own conclusions when they notice that. It’s a tough road to navigate and it’s been a rather tough go of trying.
Regardless of which theory about what’s going on you may believe, it’s hard to ignore that the Palace’s handling of the situation is raising eyebrows more than calming fears. Undeniably, royal fans are eventually going to demand further answers. As some have suggested, the answers could impact the relevance and future of the monarchy.
