Breaking into someone’s home in the Land of the Free is typically not a good idea, especially if the state of residency allows possession of firearms. That said, two middle-aged men in Manchester, Kentucky, must have missed the memo as they were in for a rude awakening with an armed child. The two intruders were attempting to steal guns from a safe in the house when they encountered a teenager with a handgun who was ready to protect their home.

The Kentucky kid discovered the two robbers around 4:30 am, according to the Kentucky State Police. Acting in self-defense, the child “retrieved a handgun and shot both men before escaping through a bedroom window.” One dropped dead on the spot, while the other was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries. While police reports have not revealed the name or age of the juvenile, the internet has branded the youngster as a hero.

“Wow, the new Home Alone movie is going pretty hard,” jokingly exclaims a Redditor. For those out of the loop, Home Alone was a 1990 family comedy starring an 8-year-old boy attempting to defend his home from robbers during Christmas. Of course, both of the burglars survived in the movie, whereas the two in this news report weren’t as fortunate. “Freedom intensifies,” remarks another. “As far as I’m concerned, anyone trying to enter my house by default voided his right to exist,” comments a third.

The replies on the Kentucky State Police’s Facebook post were filled with overwhelming love and support for the child hero who bravely defended their home. “Teach your kids to defend themselves. Great job,” commends an individual. “Very brave juvenile. Quick thinking as well. I hope the juvenile has a great support system. Sending prayers,” seconds another. “Way to go kiddo!!!” exclaims a third.

11-Year Old Boy Shoots Intruder

This incident isn’t the first instance of a break-in involving an armed child going into self-defense mode. Back in 2016, an 11-year-old boy in Alabama was home alone when an intruder attempted to invade the property. After being threatened by the trespasser, the boy shot the man in the leg. “He started crying like a lil’ baby,” the young hero recalled. That all said, robbers should think twice before breaking into someone’s home, as an armed child might be ready for them.
