Kevin Costner has seemingly moved past the Yellowstone drama. The actor, 69, was spotted in New York City just one day after he learned the fate of his TV character, John Dutton. However, he wasn’t letting it get him down. Instead, Costner was photographed smiling and looking happy with athlete Rainy Castaneda, 30. She also goes by the name Christian Rain Castaneda. She’s a long-distance runner who graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law. She’s now an Assistant District Attorney in New York.
For Kevin Costner, life could be imitating life a bit. His Yellowstone character, John Dutton, dabbled in politics and even became the Governor of Montana before the actor left the series. Meanwhile, the character had plenty of interaction with law enforcement and District Attorneys on the show as well.
Costner looked dapper as he wore a navy blue sweater and dark blue slacks. He wore dark-rimmed eyeglasses and sported some salt and pepper facial hair as he posed alongside Rainy, per The Daily Mail. For her part, the Texas native looked stunning as she rocked a little black dress with a square neckline. She added a matching scarf around her neck. The athlete had her shoulder-length dark hair parted in the center and styled in sleek strands that fell around her face. She wore a minimal makeup look that included dark pink lips and soft pink blush.
Kevin Costner Shakes Off Yellowstone Fate While Hanging With Younger Woman
While it remains to be seen if anything flirty or romantic will come of the interaction, Costner is single following his divorce from wife Christine Baumgartner. Although, some fans believed that Rainy was a bit too young for the actor.
“Can’t believe he’s 69. Talk about aging like fine wine,” one person wrote.
“He’s still incredibly handsome,” said another.
“She’s trying hard to cozy up to him. I don’t believe he’s interested. Just my point of view,” quipped another fan.
“A little too young for you Kevin. Maybe a woman in her 40s would be more appropriate,” a fourth comment read.
Costner appeared to be unphased by the the fate of his Yellowstone character during Sunday night’s Season 5 premiere. After a year of major drama surround the show, which led to the actor’s controversial exit, fans finally learned how the series handled John Dutton’s absence. (Warning: Yellowstone spoilers below.)
In the first few minutes of the premiere, it was made clear that Kevin Costner’s character wouldn’t be making a surprise return to the series. Instead, John was revealed to be dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, it was later revealed that the death was a murder covered up and orchestrated by Jamie Dutton and his devious girlfriend.
After learning about his character’s death, Costner gave an interview where he revealed he didn’t watch the episode and wasn’t thrilled with the method by which John Dutton was eliminated.
“I didn’t see it. I heard it’s a suicide, so that doesn’t make me want to rush to go see it,” Costner told The Michael Smerconish Program on Siriux XM
Kevin Costner has been in the entertainment business for decades. He knows the ups and downs of television and film. He’s likely not letting his Yellowstone fate get him down. If anything, he appears to be ready to mingle.
