One criticism of recent Marvel movies and shows has been the direction. Like the first phase, seeds are being planted that will lead to the next epic adventure for the established and soon-to-be-established heroes. The next saga for the MCU is imminent as Kevin Feige teased that we will have a clearer idea of where everything is going in a new interview with TotalFilm.
“As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going,” Kevin Feige said about the next saga. “I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”
While we will have to wait for a look at the said roadmap, there have been some ideas the community has had about the direction. In Loki, and as announced for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country), could be the next big bad now that Thanos turned to dust from Iron Man. With that villain and projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and What If…?, we are going deep into the multiverse. The big question is, what does that mean for the overarching story, like the infinity stones meant for the Infinity Saga?
Likely Day of Announcements from Kevin Feige on Next MCU Saga
To get that answer and what the Marvel leader means by “coming months,” it is likely D23 this September. Marvel is confirmed to have a panel on September 10th, where we will see upcoming movies and Disney Plus shows. At Phase 4 rounds out next year, Kevin Feige will likely reveal the next saga or at least a part of it. We should also get a look at what’s to come to Phase 5, which we know should include Blade, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, and, if we are lucky, X-Men.
We still have many things to watch before the next phase. Thor: Love and Thunder releases on July 8th, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11th, Quantumania on February 17th, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5th, and The Marvels on July 28th. That does not include the shows between now and then like Ms. Marvel, which is currently running on Disney Plus, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Secret Invasion.
