The turn-based, tactical RPG has been in Early Access on Steam since January 2021, when it faced a similar delay.
NeocoreGames explained the reasoning behind their decision to delay the game in today’s press release:
“While the delay is a small one, NeocoreGames is confident that the extra weeks of development and polish will help to deliver the strongest possible version of King Arthur: Knight’s Tale for its fans.”
Although the full release of the game is delayed, the version of the game currently available in Early Access has generally been well-received, earning Mostly Positive reviews on Steam as of writing. Players take on the role of Sir Mordred, an enemy of King Arthur. When the two meet in battle, they kill each other. The story then takes an undead twist, as both men find themselves neither dead nor alive. According to the game’s Steam store page:
“The Lady of the Lake, the ruler of the mystical island of Avalon brought you back to end a true nightmare. She wants you to go on a knightly quest. She wants you to finish what you have begun. Kill King Arthur – or whatever he has become after she took his dying vessel to Avalon..”
The first act of King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is available in Early Access. According to today’s press release, the full version of the game will include the remainder of the story and some endgame content.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale will leave Steam Early Access on March 29, 2022. Future releases are also planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
