This release date wasn’t explicitly announced by SNK. Besides a tweet that announced that the game was coming to PlayStation 4, no other details were revealed until its release. Many competitive players will be happy to hear that The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match will have rollback netcode at launch. This was tested in October of last year.Â
Unlimited Match was originally released as a remake of The King of Fighters 2002. The original game was released for Neo Geo in 2002 while the remake was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2009 in Japan. Yes, you read that correctly. It was a PS2 game released in 2009. In 2010, an Xbox Live Arcade version was released followed by a Steam version in 2015. Now, here we are in 2021, and The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is going to be released one more time via the PlayStation Store.Â
Pre-Orders
Pre-orders are open via the Japanese online store. There are different versions that you can purchase. Some include a beautiful illustration, a Neo Geo stand sign, an artbook, the original soundtrack, and a Neo Geo ROM-styled box.
