Today at Disney’s D23 event in California, Shinji Hashimoto announced that Kingdom Heartsย 3ย will have a world based on Big Hero 6, the recent animated Disney movie.ย Players, as Sora, will be able to team up with Baymax to battle enemies and form a friendship with the inflatable robot.
Hashimoto described Big Hero 6′s characters and fictional city of San Fransokyo as “a perfect fit for Kingdom Hearts.” He unveiled concept art of Sora riding on the back of Baymax, wielding his keyblade as they flew over San Fransokyo. Hashimoto said that the development team thought it would be interesting if the antagonists in Kingdom Hearts 3 would (spoilers)ย use the powers of darkness on the old Baymax left behind in the portal, as featured in the film.
โBig Hero 6 is such a special film for me,โ said film producer Ray Conli, โand we always made sure that each action sequence had a very special meaning. The themes in Kingdom Hearts and Big Hero 6 match very well. For instance thereโs friendship, really important to both stories, and then of course light over darkness.”
There wasnโt much other Kingdom Hearts 3 news, sadly. And thereโs still no release date for the thirdย Kingdom Hearts game, which was announced at E3.ย For more on the Big Hero 6 addition, check out the video below.
