Kit Harington is best known for his work on Game of Thrones as Jon Snow. Jon Snow, a.k.a. Aegon Targaryen, was beloved by most GOT fans. However, when the series hit its final season, many fans were upset with the direction everything went in. Now, in a recent interview, Harington seems to have agreed with the angry fans as he has kind of opened up about the show’s lackluster finale.
According to GQ, Kit Harington believes that even though fans do not like the way Game of Thrones ended, it was “time for it to be over.” Harignton also talks about how tired everyone was on set. The 37-year-old states that there was no way he had another season in him. However, he does acknowledge the fans thinking it was very rushed, as he “might agree.”
Kit Harington Opens up About Game of Thrones
“I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, it is that we were all so f—ing tired we couldn’t have gone on longer,” Harington said. “And so I understand some people thought it was rushed, and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.”
The iconic series ends with Bran Stark becoming the first ever elected King of the Seven Kingdoms. Although he may be a solid pick, many believed it should have been Harignton’s Jon Snow or even Emila Clark’s Daenerys Targaryen. Daenerys’ entire character arc is about her gaining enough power to take the Iron Throne back. However, after she burns down the entire city of King’s Landing, Jon Snow kills her.
The Game of Thrones producers most likely had the biggest shock, though. After the series ended, fans started a petition to have the last season remade. However, that was likely never an option. Kit Harington did try to return to the GOT franchise, though. Unfortunately, his Jon Snow series was shelved.
Although Game of Thrones’s ending is hated by most fans, the franchise is still alive and well. Currently, the prequel series, House of The Dragon, is being very well received by fans. However, there seems to always be a bad taste left in the mouths of fans after the GOT finale. It also seems like Kit Harington feels the same way.
