Kit Harrington has another project under his belt set to give his career a major boost. Ahead of the premiere date on Apple TV+, the actor discussed his role in the upcoming series, Extrapolations. He also revealed a surprising time jump viewers could expect in the last episode, and dished on the real reason he chose to participate in the series.
Speaking to People on Tuesday at the series premiere which took place in Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum, the star explained how the series creator Scott Z. Burn’s passion for a greener future inspired him. He quipped:
“Quite honestly, it was Scott coming to me and saying, ‘I want to do a climate change Black Mirror, and I’ve got this amazing cast of actors.’ And I was like, Yeah, great. I’ll be a part of that.”
Going further, Kit Harrington explained that he saw no downside to the Extrapolations series. Contrariwise, he deemed it an important, interesting, and historical piece. This no doubt resonates with Scott’s previous works like An Inconvenient Truth, which create awareness about the planet’s changing climate.
What Kit Harrington Thinks Of His Extrapolations Character
Extrapolations comprise eight interwoven stories of families and friends trying to survive in a dystopian world collapsing under climate change and global warming. Kit plays the character, Nicholas Bilton, a wealthy, free-market capitalist. Discussing his character, the actor divulged:
“The idea with Nicholas Bilton is that he was one of those kids from nowhere. A Russian billionaire father, grazed in the British school system… you can’t really place him in any part of the world. And that’s fascinating to me because people like that have no affinity or association with any one country.”
Kit Harrington went on to describe his Extrapolations character as someone who thought his belief in the free market could solve the issues plaguing the world. However, in his quest to prove that, the character supposedly corrupted himself and the whole situation in the process.
For the spoiler, the Game of Thrones actor revealed his character aged 30 years into the future in the finale. Expectedly, he wore prosthetics to look the path but ended up with a weird face. How that plays out remains to be seen in the Extrapolations series, which will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 17, 2023, and runs weekly through April 21.
