Kristin Cavallari is biting back her words about having an amicable co-parenting dynamic with her ex-husband, Jay Cutler. She made the claims last year during a November episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast. However, the former couple’s relationship has changed according to the media personality.
Cavallari shared her concerns about her unstable co-parenting relationship with Cutler on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast. She accused her ex of bringing “zero f—ing consistency” to their dynamic, stating it had been “so up and down.” Despite their differences, the pair were able to achieve a single joyous moment during their son’s basketball game.
“We sat together at a basketball game earlier in the year, and I was like, ‘Holy f—, this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it. We can sit next to each other,'” Cavallari recalled. However, their amicable dynamic did not last long as they could not recreate this touching moment since then.
Based on their strained relationship, the Laguna Beach alum believed they could not be reunited as a family. She predicted they would never spend time together with their three kids for the holidays in the future. Although not having a “family unit” during Christmas “bums [her] out sometimes,” the podcaster preferred her ex gone.
Kristin Cavallari Slams Her Ex-Husband as a ‘Pathological Liar’
During the episode, Cavallari reflected on her divorce from Cutler and compared him to her “narcissistic” father. She stressed that as a child of divorced parents, she never wanted to end up in the same situation. However, she ended up marrying a man exactly like her father.
She claimed “so much good” came out of her separation from Cutler, especially letting go of his infidelity rumors. During their marriage, the former athlete was plagued by years-long speculations of dating Cavallari’s ex-pal Kelly Henderson. To date, the podcaster does not know what truly happened between the infamous pair, noting:
“When you’re dealing with a pathological liar, it’s hard to know what the f–king truth is. There are things from my marriage that I will never know, and I’ve just sort of had to let that go. I’m over it now.”
A year before addressing her inconsistent co-parenting dynamic with Cutler, Cavallari raved about their improved bond on her podcast. She confessed that she never believed they could achieve an amicable relationship and was proud of their progress. “Everyone wins when parents are on good terms,” the podcaster told listeners, adding that her children were also happy.
“My kids see it, I mean, it’s just easier. And listen, I get it. When people’s hearts are breaking, it’s really difficult,” Cavallari explained. She noted that it was great watching her ex achieve happiness and even described him as her “soulmate.” However, she acknowledged that not all soulmates enjoyed blissful relationships and some needed challenges to grow.
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler tied the knot in 2013 and divorced in 2022. Can the former couple regain the amicable dynamic The Hills alum once raved about?
