Kyle Chrisley is continuing on with life despite his complicated relationship with members of his family. The Chrisley Knows Best personality, 33, is active on social media, sharing glimpses of his life despite stepping away from his very public-facing family.
On Thursday, Kyle shared photos of his older children—wife Ashleigh Nelson Chrisley’s older children, whom he adopted nearly six years ago. The photo celebrated the two teens as they embarked on their first day of school. However, the comments on the photo of Haiden and Mackenzie Chrisley were met with a lot of confusion. Some fans who don’t regularly keep up with Kyle even commented asking questions.
Many brought up Chloe Chrisley and asked about Kyle’s relationship with her. Kyle and ex Angela Johnson are the biological parents of Chloe. The now 11-year-old was legally adopted by Kyle’s biological father, Todd Chrisley, and his second wife, Julie. Chloe is in the custody of Todd and Julie’s daughter, Savannah, as the two serve prison time.
Fans Attacked Kyle for Saying He Has Two Kids
Kyle Chrisley responded to several fans in the comments who brought Chloe up in his discussion of Haiden and Mackenzie. One fan accused Kyle of “dismissing” Chloe from his life and only focusing on the two children he adopted with Ashleigh.
“I’m not dismissing her and I never said she wasn’t my child. But I don’t have her. I have these two and today was their first day of school, I posted a pic. What is it you guys want me to do, photoshop Chloe into every pic I take of my other kids? Make it make sense.”
In another comment, Kyle defended his “right to move on” from his troubled past. However, many people feel like you can’t “move on” from a child, regardless of rights and custody. Kyle leveled that there’s nothing in his situation with Chloe that can be changed, regardless of how people feel about that fact.
“I don’t have rights to Chloe. I don’t have photos of Chloe. I don’t have contact with Chloe. You can be mean and talk down on me all you want but it won’t change anything and it doesn’t affect me. I’ve made peace with my decision and I am allowed to move on. If you follow me on socials you’re going to see my day to day life and that includes these kids, MY kids.”
When one fan accused Kyle of never “fighting” hard for Chloe, he refuted the claim and said he’s exhausted all his options.
“I have fought, there is NO reversing an adoption and I can’t be granted visitation for a child I don’t have rights to.”
This mirrors what he explained to a fan in another recent post, where the fan expressed concern about how his sentimental posts with the other kids might impact Chloe one day. Kyle countered with the need for the kids he does have in his life and take part in raising to also have a safe space.
“You do know that I’ve never had her right? The only thing Chloe knows of me is what she’s been told. I’m her biological father but my dad is the only one she’s ever known to be her ‘dad.’ TV is fake. And regardless of this… I would take her back today if they would let me have her. Fact is they won’t. I’m not even allowed to have her phone number or take her to eat. Why don’t you stop to think how you might be affecting my son with your comments? Because he is 16 with a phone and an Instagram and he reads them.”
Kyle’s Primary Connection to the Family Seems to Be His Sister and Grandmother
Although it’s been alleged Kyle has visited Todd Chrisley in jail, it’s unclear that status of their relationship. The two have been in a state of on-and-off estrangement over the years. Unfortunately, things between father and son are tangled up in mental health and substance abuse concerns. It seems that Kyle is most closely in touch with sister Lindsie Chrisley. He and his family also seem to keep in touch with his grandmother, “Nanny Faye.”
It’s unclear what, if any, role Kyle plays in Chloe’s life. He did send some sweet words her way on her birthday in November. While fans may be appalled, Kyle claims he’s doing the best with his circumstances.
