Kyle Richards won’t let people change her family’s story. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star appeared on the new podcast Bravo’s Hot Mic with executive producer Alex Baskin. Talking about the show’s latest season, which captures the tension leading up to Richards’ separation from husband Mauricio Umansky, Richards addressed rumors about her separation.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky separating was a surprise to fans.
Kyle and Mauricio had a tight-knit relationship. Fans enjoyed watching their fun and flirty dynamic over 13 years. They also watched the couple raise their daughters together. There was no questioning that the pair were a fan favorite and have long seemed to be one of the more solid couples in the Bravoverse.
After 27 years of marriage, the two separating stunned fans. As the split has started to unfold publicly, some fans have speculated that the couple is putting on a ruse to keep their relevance on the reality show.
Kyle addressed speculation that there’s something disingenuous about her marriage troubles.
When Alex Baskin brought the online chatter to Kyle Richards directly on the podcast, the RHOBH star grew emotional.
“What human being would create a story like this? No offense, Alex. I love you and everybody with the show, but who would do that for ratings? Put their family through this? That is one of the dumbest things I’ve maybe ever heard in these 13 years,” she said.
“I’m going to pretend that I’m separated and torture my children so that people tune in?” she continued, dismissing the idea that she needed “relevance” as an OG housewife.
“I care about being relevant to my friends and family. I’m not looking to be more relevant,” she leveled, saying she would never hurt her family “for a dumb f–king TV show.”
