Kyle Richards told her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Teddi Mellencamp, that she’ll always be there for her amid her divorce. The reality star spoke with People in November 2024 and discussed the end of her best friend’s marriage. During her chat, the Halloween actress revealed she speaks to Teddi nearly “all [of] the time.” She continued, explaining that the news of Teddi’s split has been challenging for all parties, and living in front of the cameras doesn’t make it easier.
“Obviously, it’s sad no matter what … And unfortunately, I can give some advice for living through this in the public eye,” Kyle mentioned.
When Teddi told her followers that she would be separating from her husband, Edwin Arroyave, she also referenced the “privacy” of her children. Kyle seemed to understand, adding that regardless of the child’s age, parents have a moral obligation to protect them as best as they can. Ultimately, Kyle wanted Teddi to know that she could “lean on me and show up at my door anytime,” regardless of “what time of night it is.”
Teddi Hid a Lot About Her Marriage During Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
When Teddi first announced her plans to divorce Edwin on Instagram, the news sent fans into a frenzy. Although watchers didn’t see much of their marriage on RHOBH, their union always seemed solid. However, a source recently revealed that Teddi hid a lot about her marriage on the show, and only Kyle knew about it.
According to earlier reports, Edwin’s alleged infidelity is one of the biggest factors that led to Teddi filing divorce papers. The source explained that after noticing the red flags, Teddi chose to work through them, leading her to “forgive and trust again.” They claimed that the reality star was hoping to keep her family together, so “they worked through it privately.” Except it wasn’t so private. Even though the producers didn’t know, the source said, “Teddi confided in Kyle, and they built that sister-like trust.”
Teddi’s Husband Responds to Divorce News
After sharing that she and her husband were getting a divorce, Teddi’s partner, Edwin, responded to the news. However, his statement didn’t come via an iPhone Notes screenshot—he spoke through a lawyer.
In a November 8th filing obtained by Us Weekly, Edwin asked the courts to enforce his prenup with Teddi. The reality star listed their date of separation as November 1st and also asked for joint legal and physical custody of their three children.
Teddi updated her fans during an episode of her podcast, Two Ts in a Pod, saying she was doing the best she could to get through such an emotional situation. “I don’t even know how to say this eloquently, but I’m just trying my hardest to make sure that my kids’ privacy is protected right now and that we’re able to have all of these conversations,” she told her co-host, Tamra Judge.
Mellencamp, 43, continued, saying that she’s striving to better herself so that she can be at her best for herself and her little ones. “I think that’s the biggest thing for me right now,” she said.
Real Housewives fans responded to the news about Teddi’s split online, and many had strong feelings about the former diamond-holder. “She sucked the life out of him,” one user wrote on X/Twitter. “Wishing him well.” Another slammed the reality star for seeking “attention” to “get back on TV.” A third fan bashed the mother of three for seeking spousal support and full custody of their children. “She really hates this man to take up full custody for the kids. My God that means it was a business deal and not a marriage! Fake phony Teddi as always.”
