We finally have a release date for Elastic Games’ debut title, Last Year: The Nightmare. The game is set to release on the Discord Store on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018. The game will cost $29.99 and is expected to release on consoles later in 2019.

Last Year: The Nightmare is a six-player multiplayer action game developed by Elastic Games. Like I mentioned above, this will be the debut title for the Montreal-based studio comprised of former Ubisoft developers.

Here is a synopsis for Last Year: The Nightmare:

“Halloween night. 1996. A group of teenagers awake to find themselves trapped in a dark, twisted reflection of their sleepy hometown of Forest Hills. As they make their way across the East Side High School campus, they realize they are being hunted by a supernatural force taking the forms of fearsome killers. Relentlessly pursued, the teens must band together to fight back, survive, and escape the terrifying anomaly they have come to know as The Nightmare.”

Five players will select their own survivor and class while the sixth takes control of the killers. The survivors are tasked with completing certain objectives in the map to win. As the killers, your goal is simple. Kill all of the survivors.

While playing as the killers, you have your own set of three different classes to choose from. These three classes (the slasher, the giant, and the strangler) each have their own weapons and styles of play.

Along with the release date, Elastic Games has revealed some of its voice cast for the upcoming action game. The cast includes Melissa Hutchison (Telltale’s The Walking Dead), Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf), Erica Lindbeck (Spider-Man), Zeno Robinson (Metal Gear Survive), Nashir Dalal (Red Dead Redemption 2), Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV), Elias Toufexis (Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey), and Jon Olson (World of Warcraft).

Last year, we had an interview with the marketing director of Elastic Games, Kevin Scharf, where we discussed many topics surrounding the horror game. Scharf touched on why Elastic Games decided to go to the horror genre with Last Year: The Nightmare:

“We’re all huge horror fans at Elastic Games. The inspiration for Last Year stems from some of the classic horror movies we all saw through the 80s and 90s, and we’re trying to bring those influences and put that into our game, making the locations feel familiar and turn our maps like East Side High into a reality.”

Last Year: The Nightmare is a game as a service title. Elastic Games has said that the team hopes to provide players with consistent content updates and AAA quality service long after its release.

Are you planning on picking up Last Year: The Nightmare when it releases December 18th? Let us know in the comments below!
