It’s been a long time since Nintendo released its current generation Switch console. While the release of the OLED version in 2021 offered an update of sorts, it was hardly a proper generational leap over the original. Finally, it seems, the Japanese publisher might be in a position to deliver exactly that, and much sooner than expected. Rumors and leaks about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console have been swirling for some time, but this latest has definitely caught out attention. Twitter user @NWeedle claims that the Dev Kit for the upcoming console has arrived in Spain. The user refers to the privacy policy of the Japanese company and states that this development will see new hardware launched very soon. Exactly when isn’t clarified, however.
Nintendo Switch 2 Dev Kit Arrives in Spain; Launch Isn’t Far Away
Leak Express:

Of course, it should also be noted that these details are leaks and rumors, so treat them with skepticism as they may not reflect the truth.
In any case, it’s fair to say that most of Nintendo’s community believes it’s high time for a new console. After all, we’ve seen games such as the latest Pokemon and Zelda entries struggling to run on the current hardware. Thankfully, it is said that this next-gen Switch offers gaming performance close to PS4 and Xbox One consoles, which would mark a significant improvement (though still rather old-hat compared with its console rivals). This could mean that there could be a significant performance leap between the two generations. With all these leaks and rumors in mind, we’re hoping Nintendo will show off the new Switch this year or next year at the latest.
