Every professional athlete has gone through their rookie season. And for some, it was easier than others. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Bronny James Jr. — who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, it could be easy to assume that the basketball player, who’s the son of the GOAT, wouldn’t be subject to rookie hazing. However, in a new video shared online, Bronny’s first rookie prank was played by his father, LeBron James.
In the clip shared on X, LeBron can be seen pouring a box of Fruity Pebbles cereal into his son’s car. The stunt took place before the Lakers’ season opener against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. “Hey rook, you better not be late,” James said in the video. Later, the younger James replied, saying his father was “too old for this.”
Lebron and Bronny Will Make History During NBA Season Opener
Despite LeBron James’ prank on his son, Bronny, fans know the NBA legend is excited to play alongside him on October 22, 2024. During their season opener against the Timberwolves, Bronny and his pops hope to make history. After the game starts, they will become the first father-son duo to play together in a regular-season NBA game.
Since Bronny’s NBA debut, there have been comments about the ball player’s readiness to be in the league. Many have questioned whether he is good enough to be there, while some have claimed nepotism helped him. Despite the criticism, that isn’t stopping Lakers head coach JJ Redick from putting the young buck on the floor.
During an episode of SportsCenter, which aired October 22, Shams Charania said it’s “very likely” fans will see history being made early in the game. “It’s never happened in the NBA before, may never, likely never happen again,” they said. “You think about LeBron James in Year 22, he’s really spoken this into existence. He’s been talking about it for the last several years, and now it is on the cusp of happening as soon as tonight.”
Several years ago, LeBron told The Athletic that his “last year” in the league would be “played with my son.”
Well, his dream finally came true. And, to top it off, basketball fans get to watch it play out tonight.
