LEGO Batman is back, and this time, he’s not alone.

LEGO Batman
He’s ready to kick some butt, again.

The first trailer for the LEGO Batman movie was released at comic con, showcasing what antics the caped crusader will get up to. In the film, Bruce Wayne adopts a young orphan at a gala. At the behest of Alfred, he is now raising and training the bespectacled youngling, letting him take on the mantle of Robin and fight crime by his side.

The trailer also featured other members of the Justice League such as Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, as well as classic villains like the Joker. It maintains the humor of the first LEGO movie, melding clever writing and the stilted movement of the figures to create a truly unique animated film.

LEGO Batman
The darkest of Dark Knights.

Will Arnett returns as Batman, Ralph Fiennes joins as Alfred Pennyworth, Michael Cera is the boisterous Robin, Zach Galifianakis cackles as the maniacal Joker, and Rosario Dawson is Batgirl. The cast is filled with plenty of heavy hitters, which is sure to bring an extra level of humor to the already bizarre proceedings.

LEGO Batman first appeared in the 2014 LEGO Movie as a side character but quickly stole the show thanks to his over-the-top demeanor and love of the color black. We still have a few months until the film hits theaters, with plenty of new LEGO sets right alongside it.

While this version of the character was introduced in The LEGO Movie, a LEGO version of Batman has been kicking and gliding through LEGO video games for years, and it’s very likely that a new LEGO Batman game will come out to coincide with the movie. Or you can go back and try out some of the older titles as you wait for the hero we all deserve to hit the screen once again, in all his blocky glory.
