Director Chris Mckay confirmed last night on twitter that Billie Dee Williams will play the voice of Two Face in the upcoming Lego Batman movie. He is often recognized for his work as iconic Star Wars smuggler Lando Calrissian, but did you know he has played two face before (well half of him atleast)?
Williams played Harvey Dent in Tim Burton’s rendition of Batman in 1989, and has voiced his desire to reprise the role on multiple occasions since. It only took 28 years, but William will finally get his wish, albeit in lego form.
The Lego Batman film follows the surprising box office success of 2014 Lego Movie, which made close to half a billion dollars during its run. The movie told the story of Emmett and his fellowship, including appearances by notable fantasy heroes (Gandalf, Han Solo, Batman), as they attempt to topple an evil tyrant.
The movies success – both financially and critically – coupled alongside an entertaining cast of characters, certainly warranted a sequel, but who should the spinoff be centered around? It didn’t take long to realise that the Batman franchise would be the perfect setting for the next lego movie.
If the lore of the Batman universe and Gotham City weren’t enticing enough, Will Arnett’s performance as the Dark Knight in the Lego Movie should elicit the excitement in any doubters that the follow up will be just as awesome! Personally, I can’t wait to see the interactions between Will Arnett and Billy Dee Williams, as the two are some of the most charismatic actors in hollywood.
Williams will complete his full transformation into Two Face when Lego Batman hits theaters on February 10, 2017. For more information be sure to stay tuned to the site for all of your Lego Batman and movie news, and be sure to check out the latest trailer above!
