Liam Neeson has spoken about a topic that’s been on Star Wars fans’ minds recently. The Phantom Menace star was recently on a podcast where he openly talked about how he felt Disney was handling the Star Wars property. Neeson has always been one of the significant figureheads of the franchise, stemming from his leading role as Qui-Gon Jinn in the first prequel trilogy. While he talks positively about his time in the films and has returned several times to the franchise, his recent podcast interview has shed another light on how he feels about the series.

Liam Neeson was recently on an episode of Conan O’Brien’s podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.ย  Liam Neeson talked about the lighter side of working on Star Wars, including how he and Ewan McGregor would make Lightsaber sounds on set. However, he did share his honest opinion on the franchise when he called it a “cult.” He said in the podcast that there are “so many movies and spin-offs, and I think, youโ€™re diluting the whole thing.”

This isn’t the first time he has spoken out about the current affairs of Star Wars, previously claiming spin-offs have taken away the mystery of the series. This is a sentiment that many fans have been feeling lately, with many finding the recent projects produced by Disney as not being up to standard for the franchise.

Nevertheless, Liam Neeson has returned to Star Wars on multiple occasions. Most recently the actor reprised his role as Qui-Gon Jinn on Obi-Wan Kenobi.
