After many posts teasing an official full-length trailer in the game’s official Twitter account, the sequel for Life is Strange finally debuts a trailer at Gamescom that gives us both a better view of the story and a release date.

The trailer deviates from the original characters of the first game and follows the story of two brothers on the run. Sean and Daniel Lopez, the new protagonists’ names, try to survive on a perilous journey heading towards Mexico. The boys’ journey is the aftermath of a scene that acted as a teaser trailer back at the beginning of August. If you have played Dontnod’s free game, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, then you might recognize the brothers who will take the spotlight of the sequel.

Check out the trailer below!

While many fans were hoping that the original characters from the first game would return, especially Max, this trailer might have just solidified the developers’ decision to steer away from her story. In an interview with Polygon, back in 2015, the Life is Strange’s co-game director expressed a desire to follow the story of completely new characters if a sequel would be made.

Dontnod’s successful game follows the story of Max Caulfield, a college student who discovers that she has time travel powers after returning to her hometown of Arcadia Bay. After the first game’s success, the series expanded on to a prequel exploring the life of Chloe, Life is Strange‘s deuteragonist. The series is even expanding into TV territory as

Life is Strange 2 first episode is expected to release September 27 of this year. While subsequent episodes are yet to be revealed when they will land. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
