Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is just around the corner, debuting exactly one week from today on February 1. This collection includes both the original Life is Strange alongside Life is Strange: Before the Storm, both given visual overhauls to be more respectable by modern-day standards. Despite all it promises to do though, we hadn’t had much to look at of either version since its first trailer back in 2021. With that being said though, today has changed that. Today, the Life is Strange: Remastered Collection team has debuted its first gameplay trailer, of which you can watch below.

The trailer depicts the first area of Episode 1, Chrysalis, as Max heads through her school’s hallway towards the bathroom. From the get-go, some of the changes are fairly noticeable. Hairstyles across various characters have been updated to be a tad more realistic, and lighting more properly draws a light reflection off the ground. That’s not even mentioning some of the animations and cutscenes, which appear much cleaner thanks to both sharper detail and higher FPS. Those who played the original on consoles are bound to find the game having much stronger framerates going into this remaster. We end things off back in Mr. Jefferson’s classroom. The most notable features are both the lighting being much stronger beaming into the classroom, alongside Jefferson’s facial hair no longer looking like it was drawn on by a five-year-old child.

All in all, while the game hasn’t changed a massive amount, these subtle details better bring out some of the smaller details and emphasize some of the lighting the game has to offer. Thanks to massive improvements in lighting technology, different parts of the game appear much stronger than they once did. And with other features not shown in the trailer, including revamped puzzles sprinkled throughout the game, there’s a lot to look forward to.

What are your thoughts on the first gameplay trailer for Life is Strange: Remastered Collection? Do you think the team did well, or should they have done more? Let me know in the comments below!
