The cute Pup Buddy friendly Deviant in Once Human is among the most sought-after in the game. It’s actually just a balloon toy that was spliced with the spirit of a dog or something, and now it’s out to help you in your post-apocalyptic journey. Finding Pup Buddy can be troublesome, depending on where you are, however. So allow our guide on how to get a Pup Buddy Once Human to help you.

Pup Buddy is in Blackfell, Red Sands Region

Before you get all giddy with the prospect of having another pet, just know that Pup Buddy apparently has a better drop rate in PvP servers, leading to speculation that he might be PvP-server-exclusive. However, there were some early reports of him being obtained in PvE servers.

In any case, you can get Pup Buddy by killing the floating balloon Deviants (the zombie ones with balloons tied to them). They can be rare so don’t expect to get Pup Buddy right away. There were reports that Pup Buddy can also drop from Ede, or the elite balloon enemy.

You can find these balloon Deviant enemies reliably in the Blackfell Fallen Zone and Blackfell Oil Fields in the Red Sands region. These balloon Deviants typically patrol near the Rift Anchor and polluted lake in Blackfell Fallen Zone.

The other location is in the Blackfell Oil Fields, which is less ideal for farming since it doesn’t have a nearby Teleporter.

How to Use Pup Buddy in Once Human

The Pup Buddy is almost necessary if you’re nearing Level 50 in Once Human because your backpack will start weighing you down with all the tools, weapons, and food you need to carry around.

Pup Buddy, once stored in a Securement Unit, will start producing a crafting material called Small Balloon which you can then use to craft the Featherweight Whim (potion) in your Supply Workbench. To craft a single Featherweight, however, you also need the following materials:

  • 8x Small Balloon (produced by Pup Buddy)
  • 4x Acid
  • 3x Glass

The Featherweight Whim, once consumed, will last for several minutes and will increase your maximum carrying capacity. So it’s about as useful as the Backpack Expansion craftable– also one of the most sought-after Specializations for the endgame. You can also sell these Featherweight potions to other players.

If you want Pup Buddy to produce Small Balloons faster, make sure to cater to its needs:

  • Green Light
  • Music
  • Toys

Of course, come back to Pup Buddy regularly to collect the Small Balloons because there’s a limit of 300 before it can produce more.
