Kendrick Lamar seems ready to start beef with anybody these days, including rap legend Lil Wayne. Lamar appeared to call Wayne out in a new song, “wacced out murals.” Now, Wayne has responded to Lamar’s lyrics, wondering what he did to be brought into the mix.
Kendrick Lamar Calls Out Several Big Names
In September, it was announced that Kendrick Lamar would be headlining the Super Bowl LIX show in February 2025. The event is going to be held in Lil Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans. At the time, the rapper expressed his disappointment in the decision and said that he would have liked to be asked.
That seemed to be water under the bridge, but now Lamar has brought Wayne’s name up in a track on his new album. Lamar dropped the new album, called GNX unexpectedly on Friday afternoon. The song “wacced out murals” has created the most static since the surprise album was released.
In it, Lamar calls out several rap legends, including Snoop Dogg, Nas, and Lil Wayne.
He raps, “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down / Whatever though, call me crazy, everybody questionable / Turn me to an Eskimo, I drew the line and decimals.”
Hearing this, Lil Wayne took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with his reaction. The “A Milli” rapper wrote, “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all.”
He concluded his post, “No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”
Kendrick Lamar also mentioned Nas and Snoop Dogg. He rapped, “Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.”
Nas got a mention on the song too, but it was definitely more positive. “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n***** agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they faces.”
Lil Wayne Fans Warn the Rapper to Sit This One Out
Once again, Lamar brought up the Super Bowl, which seemed to be a point of contention for Lil Wayne. Surprisingly, fans took to the comments to inform him that he was in the wrong.
“I can’t believe you were busy crying all over podcast over someone else headlining Super Bowl but you expect him not to respond?” one person commented. Another person pointed out that Kendrick Lamar used to look up to Wayne. “This isn’t even a diss or anything either, it’s just coming from a place of disappointment,” they wrote.
A third person warned Lil Wayne, “Chill Wayne, ion want Kenny to smoke you, u a legend.”
A fourth simply called him out, “Destruction? Don’t act like we forgot that Pusha T ‘diss.'” They were referring to a 2012 beef between Wayne and fellow rapper Pusha T. Wayne released a song called “Ghoulish” that flopped pretty hard.
As one commenter said, it seems like Kendrick Lamar is in “crash out mode.” So, it will be interesting to see how the latest “diss” is addressed.
