Parenting is full of hard decisions. One of the hardest is deciding who you could entrust with your children in the event something happened to you. Lindsie Chrisley recently addressed her own thoughts about the matter on her Southern Tea podcast.
For Lindsie, what’s already a difficult decision is made even harder by her unusual family dynamic. The former Chrisley Knows Best star is estranged from much of her family. She doesn’t currently speak to her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, or her younger siblings. She doesn’t have a close relationship with her biological mom, Teresa Terry, either.
During a recent episode of one of Lindsie’s podcasts, Southern Tea, the mom to 12-year-old son Jackson talked about family. In her comments, she praised chosen families and explained why biological families aren’t always right for everyone.
You don’t necessarily prioritize the people that God gave you, but you prioritize the relationships that add value to your life,” she explained. “And someone who you choose as family might not be blood related, but you consider them more family than your own family.

Lindsie Admitted She’d Feel More Comfortable With A Member Of Her Ex’s Family Caring For Her Son
As the conversation turned to who would take care of Lindsie’s son in the event something were to happen to her or her ex, Will Campbell, Lindsie admitted it was a hard choice for her.
As I was reading this, I was like, ‘Oh, dear god. Like, what would I do if something, God forbid, happened to Will and I at the same time?’ And obviously, my parents aren’t a choice. My mom is not a choice. My grandparents are too old to do it.

Lindsie acknowledged that though Will’s parents are approaching retirement, she can’t deny the bond they share with their grandson, noting the importance of “already [having] established relationships with them regardless of the age.”
She went on to offer more members of her ex’s families as suitable candidates to care for Jackson in the unlikely event something should happen.
I think Will’s brother and my ex sister-in-law, because they also have children that are younger than Jackson, but also know him very well, and they’re in the thick of parenting.

Savannah Chrisley Has Spoken Out About Their Estrangement In The Past
Lindsie Chrisley and sister Savannah Chrisley have traded jabs publicly in the past, but when it comes to their estrangement, they’re very much on the same page. Savannah told PEOPLE about prioritizing healthy relationships in this chapter of her life, addressing her rift with Lindsie.
It is very interesting. I don’t do well with constant lies and victim mentality, so I’m good … I have realized that as an adult, it’s my responsibility to have healthy relationships and cut out unhealthy ones. And especially now with the two kids, it’s my job to protect them emotionally, physically, psychologically and I just don’t have room for people that don’t want to show up and show up in a healthy manner.
