Lisa Rinna is opening up about being fired from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In an interview with PopCulture, Rinna, 61, admitted that life away from the cameras has been an “adjustment.” In case you forgot, the reality star had been a mainstay on the show for nearly a decade. She joined the cast in 2014 and quickly became a fan favorite. She was even pegged as the show’s villain, causing chaos and wreaking havoc wherever she went. However, the excitement around the drama she brought to the group began to fade as the years went by.
More and more fans began calling for her firing, and although they don’t have a say in casting, the network seemingly agreed. She left the show in January 2023, and in an emotional announcement, she admitted she was “grateful” for the opportunity and looked forward to the future.
Looking back on her departure, Rinna admitted she filmed the show for a “very long time.” Although it was disappointing to leave, in her mind, “change is always inevitable.” She continued, saying that her experience filming RHOBH was unlike anything she’s ever been a part of. “I learned so much about dealing with these different personalities – that’s kind of saying it in a really nice way,” she said. “I learned a great deal and I wouldn’t trade that eight years [of] experience for anything, because living life creates a lot of this experience so that you can play these different characters. Every part of my life has led me to where I am now. … I use everything.”
Would Lisa Rinna Return to the Real Housewives Franchise?
Since Rinna’s firing, many fans are hopeful the iconic actress-turned-reality star will return in the future. However, based on her recent statements, that doesn’t seem likely. During her chat with Us Weekly, the actor admitted to having much fun during her Housewives days. Even then, she feels strongly that everything happens for a reason. “I think that there’s certain things that you do in life, and you finish that chapter and we did that,” she said. “I have made some great friends over there, so I definitely talk to my girls.”
So, it looks like the door is closed on a Real Housewives return. But would Rinna be open to returning to the unscripted world in the future?
Elsewhere in her interview, Lisa, who also starred in American Horror Stories, seemed to hint that she would. The mother of two said she’s down for anything. In fact, she said her fans never know what fun projects she could be part of in the near future. “You just never know,” she teased.
Later, Lisa admitted that she’s “open to all kinds of things” in the entertainment industry. She explained that she’s been presented with several new opportunities and is now weighing her options. “So, let’s see what happens,” she said.
For now, a future spot on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Rinna. But in the land of reality TV, anything can happen—including shocking and unforeseen returns. The Bravo villain won’t be featured in the upcoming season, which premieres in November 2024. However, a cameo several years down the line could be an option.
