Netflix is hyping fans up for season 3 of Locke & Key with a trailer that gives a final glimpse before it hits the streaming service on August 10. The trailer takes a look at significant plot points that will come to a conclusion in just a few weeks.
Locke & Key follows a mother (Darby Stanchfield) and her children Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones), and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) as they deal with the mysterious murder of the patriarch of the family. When moving to their ancestral home, they discover magical keys that have something to do with the father and husband’s death.
Netflix also announced the directors who will carry Locke & Key through its final outing. Guy Ferland (Yellowstone), Edward Ornelas (The Resident), Marisol Adler (Manifest), and Jeremy Webb (The Umbrella Academy) will direct two episodes each.
Locke & Key trailer gets fans ready for final season
A part of the news about Locke & Key season 3, the creator of the graphic novel that the series is based on, and Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill, will return to write an episode. Showrunners Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House) will write the remaining episodes. The two seem quite prepared as they said that after they got the green light for season 2, they went ahead to map out the rest of the story.
The show stars Stanchfield (Scandal), Jessup (Falling Skies), Scott (WandaVision), Jones (CODA), Brendan Hines (The Tick), Sherri Saum (Power Book II: Ghost), Coby Bird (The Good Doctor), Kevin Durand (Ballers) and Aaron Ashmore (Killjoys).
Locke & Key found great success on Netflix. Getting enough popularity got it through its three-season run, but things started a little shakier. Its first season received a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. Things picked up significantly with its second outing as its percentage went up to 83%. That main issue from its first season was its inconsistent tone, but it did the source material justice while delivering some fun spookiness. The second season improved upon the complaints while ratcheting up the excitement.
Locke & Key season 3 premieres on Netflix on August 10.
