Considering the hype surrounding Fallout 4, many fans are eagerly awaiting news about the next Elder Scrolls game. Additionally, since there was a 5 year gap between Oblivion and Skryim, with Fall Out releases in between, it isn’t terribly unreasonable to expect at least some news regarding the next game. Unfortunately however, there will be no new Elder Scrolls game for a “very long time” according to Bethesda’s Pete Hines.
During a chat with Dualshockers, the studio’s VP of Marketing explained that Bethesda Game Studios (the developer, who are completely different to Bethesda the publisher) are currently working on Fallout 4 and they only ever do one game at a time. Since both Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas were massive games with lots of content, we can expect Fall Out 4 to be huge as well, subsequently pushing the development of the next Elder Scrolls game.
And before you hope that they might be staffing up to work on two games at once, Hines stated that there is still only “a hundred and something” people working at the studio, the same size which shipped Skyrim. This number is on the low side for any big budget game, let alone something as seemingly complex as Fallout 4.
Although this is disappointing news for many fans, the goal for the Elder Scrolls currently seems to be on expanding the online game through downloadable content (DLC) updates and such. We will keep you updated with any news as it is released.
