It takes a lot to conquer the diverse lands of Mournstead. From the mountains and tundra to the obligatory Soulslike poison swamp, the terrain is almost as treacherous as the creatures that inhabit it. Anyone can slay Rhogar, but it takes a special breed of Lampbearer to do so with speed and style. The Ranger combines the best of both, using Agility, ranged weaponry, and a great deal of skill to vanquish its enemies. It’s not the easiest class, but once you’ve got a handle on its unique strengths, it’s arguably one of the most fun. Here’s everything you need to know about the best Ranger build in Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen Best Ranger Build Playstyle
The Ranger relies on speed and mobility, making good use of the Agility Attribute. It’s also one of the builds that relies the most on ranged weapons. Bows and throwables should both be a prominent part of your arsenal. You’ll be running Light Armor to keep your Encumberance to a minimum, so avoidance needs to take priority over tanking hits. You can run Ranger as either a Quality build or pure Agility. This setup opts for the latter, though your throwables may lean in the other direction. Managing ranged attacks against the game’s frequent hordes of enemies can be tricky, so always mind your position and ammo count.
LotF Ranger Starting Class and Attributes
To nobody’s surprise, the best starting class for this build has Ranger in the title. The Blackfeather Ranger is optimal for several reasons. You’ll start with a bow, which makes wading through Abandoned Redcopse and slaying Pieta a bit easier than it would otherwise be. More importantly, it offers a good Attribute spread. Inferno and Radiance are terrible, but that’s fine because you won’t be doing any spellcasting anyway. 13 Agility and 11 Strength give you a solid basis for a Quality build, but if you decide to pursue a more Agility-oriented route, you have the makings for that as well.

Weapons and Armor
This Ranger build focuses on two-wielding a pair of light swords, both of which scale with Agility. First is the Left-hand Bringer of Stillness Sword, and second is Hallowed Praise. This combo allows you to deal Physical damage as well as Wither and Bleed simultaneously. You wouldn’t be much of a Ranger without a good bow, and for this build, you’ll be using the Assassin’s Bow, one of the best ranged weapons in Lords of the Fallen. For armor you’ll use the Radiant Purifier Hat, Corrupted Pilgrim Testimony Cape, Prole Wrappings, and Radiant Purifier Trousers. This combo offers a good stat spread for minimal weight.
Throwables
You won’t be using a Catalyst and spells. That means throwables will be an important part of your arsenal when you aren’t using a bow. These weapons do surprisingly good damage in Lords of the Fallen, and the best throwables can make short work of even the toughest bosses. The Enhanced Lump Hammer is arguably the best of its kind. It’s a straightforward and brutal weapon capable of dealing considerable damage in the hands of a good Quality build. Your bow can do most of the heavy lifting, especially with specialized arrows capable of dealing Wither or Poison damage, but you should keep your options open for other good ranged options.
Pendant and Rings
The Scournful Effigy is one of the best pendants in Lords of the Fallen. It’s also a bit of a gamble. It allows you to deal additional damage but at the cost of reducing your maximum health. On a build that wears light armor and has no shield to defend itself, you’re taking a definite risk by bringing this pendant along. If you have the skills to make it work, however, the tradeoff is a good one. As for rings, consider the Nimble Ring, which raises your Agility. Pair it with the Lucent Sword Ring, which allows you to deal additional Physical damage when you’re at full or almost full health, to make the most of the Scournful Effigy.
