It has been confirmed that the hysterical comedian, Louis C.K., will be getting two new specials on Netflix. These specials aren’t in association with his show, Louie (which ended in 2015), and, instead, will stand on their own. One of the specials has a name: 2017. 2017 has already completed filming in Washington D.C and will premiere on April 4 of this year only on Netflix. The second special has yet to receive a name or release date.
After hearing the talented voice acting of Louis. C.K. in The Secret Life of Pets, it’ll be refreshing to see him doing his own specials again. It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve seen him do any sort of new stand-up. Granted, the specials may not be all stand-up comedy, but I have a feeling that it won’t matter. I also have a feeling in my gut that they will be all stand-up. Either way, whatever Louis C.K. is involved in tends to be funny enough to make me want to watch it again. That’s what truly matters. For example, the shows Baskets and Better Things on FX are both created by him (Better Things being co-created by him with Pamela Aldon) and are both unique in their own ways. I mean, a show with Zack Galfinakis pulling off the twin switcheroo act…that’s golden.
Netflix has a certain place in their hearts for comedians. They’ve had names such as Aziz Ansari, Bo Burnham, Jim Gaffigan, Joe Rogan, Trevor Noah, and Dana Carvey. Netflix now adds to their glorious list of stand-up comedians by being the frontline for Louis C.K.’s new specials. They have two specials from Chris Rock coming in the near future, too! That’s big news for Netflix, as they continue to take the television industry by storm.
