The newest NBA superstar to walk through the legendary halls of Staples Center has balled out so far. Luka Doncic has given the Lakers the shot of adrenaline the team needed to try and make some postseason noise. However, the former Dallas Maverick is known to get a little carried away occasionally. During a recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Doncic was hit with a delay of game for something most had never seen before.
Reports from SBnation confirm that during Clippers’ star James Harden’s free-throw opportunities, Luka Doncic would grab the ball and proceed to wipe his face and forehead sweat all over it. Doncic would then try to hand the ball to the referee, who would refuse to touch it and call for a delay of game for the young Laker. The referee would then demand a towel to attempt to clean off the ball. The camera would then cut to LeBron James, who looked very confused regarding the entire situation. Many seemed to find this act “disgusting,” and rightfully so. However, some NBA fans on social media just had to ask Luka, “WTF is wrong with you?”

NBA Fans React to Luka Doncic Wiping His Sweat All Over the Basketball
Although, it doesn’t stop there, as more fans chimed in via X.
“This is nasty,” one said.
“This is actually disgusting and a bit disgraceful,” wrote another.
Finally, another asked, “WTF is wrong with you?”
It would seem most basketball fans still can’t figure this one out, and are really grossed out by Doncic’s recent behavior.
It is still unclear why Luka Doncic would do such a thing. Many theories include the thought that maybe a sweaty basketball is harder to shoot. However, James Harden never even touched the basketball with said sweat on it. Doncic’s efforts to force a free-throw miss were in vain, it seems. However, he did get one thing out of this whole ordeal, and that would be a delay-of-game penalty.
Luka Doncic has only been a Los Angeles Laker for a short time. The nightly triple-double threat was shipped off to Laker land in a three-team deal. This would send Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka to the Lakers and some other assets to the Utah Jazz. This trade would set the NBA world ablaze as one of the most historical and random blockbuster trades ever.
Since adding Luka Doncic, the Lakers have begun to lock in. The team is now in second place in the NBA’s Western Conference and looking for more. However, good luck trying to catch the dominant OKC Thunder. With the playoffs approaching quickly, will Luka and LeBron be enough to allow L.A. to hang another banner? Unfortunately, only time will tell for now.
