Marvel and Netflix have finally released a full-length trailer for the second season of Luke Cage, and it is action-packed. We last saw the Harlem’s Hero in last years Marvel’s Defenders. So this season will be taking place a full two years after the first.

This trailer has given us a great look at what we can expect when the show returns on June 22. It sets up a new villain in the form of Bushmaster, a nemesis lifted directly from the comics. Played by Mustafa Shakir, this new antagonist looks to be quite the match for Luke Cage, possessing similar bulletproof skin and super-strength. Season one villains Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) and Bobby Fish also make their return in the trailer. Luke Cage will not be alone in confronting these enemies, as he is joined by Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and Misty Knight  (Simone Missick), who looks to be planning to replace the arm she lost in Defenders with a bionic limb of some sort, similar to her characters comic book inspiration.

The late Reg E. Cathey, who past away in February, also appears as a narrator in the trailer and will be playing something of a mentor to Luke Cage. We have no idea if the events of the recent Avengers: Infinity War will factor into the series at all. We kind of doubt it given the given the complexity of writing what happened in that movie’s finale into the show, but it would be an interesting addition to see it at least referenced. Also, no word if any characters from the other Netflix Marvel series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or Iron Fist will make any cameos. The most recent addition to the Netflix lineup was the second season of Jessica Jones, which was well received. We will have all our questions answered when the full second season of Luke Cage drops onto the streaming service on Jun 22nd.
