Madonna’s love life has taken another heavy blow. The iconic singer and her boxer boyfriend, Josh Popper, have called it quits. The pair were an item for a little over a year after being introduced by a loved one. Unfortunately, they couldn’t survive the pressure of Madonna’s recently concluded Celebration Tour.
Madonna’s Tour Schedule Messes With Her Relationship
The La Isla Bonita songstress and the athlete reportedly couldn’t keep up with the demands of tour life. “Madonna has barely seen Josh for months because her schedule was so hectic. Things just fizzled out,” a source told The Sun of their relationship. The insider added, “There is genuinely no bad blood — they’re still fond of each other. At the moment, their relationship doesn’t feel feasible, and they’ve cooled things off, but they are staying friends.”
Popper, who is 35 years younger, met the Queen of Pop through her son David Banda, whom he was teaching boxing lessons to. Before the start of the Celebration Tour in October 2023, Madonna and Popper seemed to be going strong. The 30-year-old was by her side when she got hospitalized in June for an infection. Prior to her health issues, the seven-time Grammy winner and the boxer were fast becoming a blended family unit. Popper accompanied Madonna and her kids to Portugal for a birthday vacation to celebrate her turning 65. There, he met her oldest son, Rocco Ritchie, and got approval.

Madonna and Popper first became linked in early 2023 following her breakup from dancer Ahlamalik Williams. The duo wasted no time being serious, making their Instagram official in February 2023. Popper even made an appearance during the Celebration Tour. He joined her on stage in December during the Brooklyn stop, and they kissed in front of the crowd. It was the last time they were physically seen together.
However, Popper still posted a photo with the Vogue singer in February to mark Valentine’s Day. “Missing Portugal,” he captioned a photo of him standing behind Madonna while she posed seductively.
