A man in Glendale, Arizona, was accompanying his brother after his surgery when he asked about some medicines, which arguably took a while to be administered. A nurse lashed out at him for asking, and the man believes her attitude was racially motivated.
Fabian Montes shared the story on TikTok. The Arizona man explained that his brother had his appendix removed, and he was with making him company in his room. Fabian detailed that his brother was in pain and in need of medication, frail as he couldn’t eat anything, and constipated.
Doctors and nurses came and went in and out of the room, and the medicine had not yet been delivered. After at least an hour of waiting, Fabian went outside and asked a nurse. She said, however, “Oh my gosh, you guys are so impatient.”
As he was half-asleep, the Arizona man decided to let it go. To his surprise, the nurse grabbed his brother’s medicine from across the counter, meaning it had been there all along.
Fabian apologized, but the nurse continued with her attitude, saying, “You guys are being so rude.” This confused him, as he and his brother had no issues with other nurses or doctors, and they were just in the hospital room, playing with Legos.
The argument continued, and Fabian eventually asked the nurse to speak with her boss. She told him, “You know what? You can go ahead and leave.” He wasnt’ leaving any time soon, as he was the only one available to accompany his brother. According to him, his mother had surgery, and his father was with her.
Eventually, the nurse’s supervisor tried to apologize, saying that the nurse was a “nice person.”
Wrong Medicines, Reactions
Things were so tense that the Arizona man’s brother thought they didn’t want to give him more medicine. Caring for his brother, Fabian talked to the hospital’s head of security, who then got a doctor, who is potentially the one in charge of the whole hospital.
After a quick chat, the doctor told Fabian that his brother wasn’t even receiving the appropriate medication. She fixed it, and the hospital floor manager and a social worker came to the room to talk to Fabian and his brother.
The Arizona man explained that he decided to speak out about it, inspired in part by the anti-ICE protests happening across the country. To him, the nurse went off at them because she was racist.
Many users reacted in support of Fabian and his brother. One person said, “Whatever you do, don’t leave him alone in the hospital. My mom died the day we left her alone.” Another one commented, “Get a lawyer!! Lawsuit time!!” A third one said, “File the report with the supervisor. It’s good you’re there watching cuz people are hateful.”
