A sad act of vandalism occurred in San Francisco recently when a man was caught on camera keying a Swastika symbol into the body of two parked Tesla Cybertrucks. The incident has sparked outrage amongst the local community, and is currently under investigation by the San Francisco police department. In the footage, the suspect who carried out the vandalism isn’t wearing a mask, so his face is clearly on display.
The brief 16-second clip appears to be lifted from one of the Cybertruck’s surveillance cameras and sees a man sporting a baggy black t-shirt, dark jeans, and white sneakers using a key to scratch a nazi symbol into not one, but two stationary Tesla vehicles. The man appears to be holding a paper bag in his right hand as he vandalises the cars with a key in his left hand, before placing the key back in his pocket and quickly exiting the scene.
Unfortunately, this form of vandalism hasn’t been a one-off, as targeting Teslas has become increasingly more frequent due to the current politically charged climate. For instance, in Pennsylvania recently, a man was caught keying a Swastika into a Tesla before allegedly offering to “wipe it off with a towel.”
Commenters online were not very pleased after poring over the video clip. Over on Reddit, some folks took aim at the Democrats who some thought were partly responsible for the vandalism going on, writing, “Demorats sure love lthe Nazi symbol. [sic]” with another chiming in with, “I feel like all the people doing this are just excited to get a free pass to publicly draw a swazi.”
Elsewhere, another commenter opined how Tesla should really introduce some form of durable anti-scratch protection on top of its semi-bulletproof capabilities, expressing: “Sad Tesla haven’t introduced scratch proof door panels. There’s plenty of aluminum panels that are scratch-proof. Like I have a cooker where you can try to scratch it with box cutter knife and it simply slides. Imagine frustration of such vandals then 😂”
