One would think that mailrooms are safe places where people can leave their mail and packages. Sadly, that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. A recent Redditor shared a video of a man stealing a package inside a condo mailroom in OTR, one of the neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, the robber did not count on the mailroom to have a camera. While the packages are lost right now, the silver lining is that the footage is out there, which might help the authorities bring this felon to justice.
User Accomplished_Rub1102 shared the footage on the city’s subreddit. In it, you can see a man entering a package room inside a condo in the OTR neighborhood of Cincinnati. The man proceeds to grab a packaged envelope and hides it under his shirt, and then grabs an even bigger package from the floor before exiting. While the video is short, the camera caught him completely, and we can see his whole face in the footage. Yes, it is heartbreaking for people to get their packages stolen, but at least tracking down this criminal will be much easier now.
A few Redditors commented on the post, trying to give some tips about how to catch this felon.
“That’s one of your neighbors. I would print a screenshot and post it in the common area. Somebody in your building will recognize the person.” – korbworksout via Reddit.
The above statement seems plausible. Someone in the building would know about this room and when packages were delivered. However, other citizens claim they’ve seen the man somewhere else, meaning he might be stealing packages all around the city.

In any case, there might be a consolation prize for everyone in the end. As you may or may not know, package theft is now a felony in Ohio. A new law took effect last month, meaning that this man will suffer grave consequences once the authorities catch him. We only hope those affected get their packages back or at least some compensation.
