While you may think that you’re absolutely safe in your own home or apartment, that isn’t always the case. Aside from possible robbers trying to enter your property and steal your belongings, you might also have the bad luck of encountering creeps. For this Black student in Texas, that nightmare became a reality when he experienced a horrifying incident while studying in his apartment. Although he could have called 911 to handle the situation, the student decided to confront the man directly.
In the clip he uploaded to social media, you can see him berating the man and telling him that he had broken the law. The unknown man had been taking photos of the student as he studied on the ground floor next to a full ceiling window, which gave the man a clear opportunity to snap pictures of him. Trying to defend himself and insisting that he hadn’t taken any inappropriate photos, the man showed the pictures he had taken to the Texas student. He then deleted the photo right in front of the student, but the student wasn’t satisfied, pointing out that the image would still remain in the phone’s trash bin unless it was permanently deleted.
The student then began scrolling through the man’s phone to ensure that the copy in the trash bin was also deleted. Surprisingly, the man suddenly began to act like a victim, speaking in a half-sobbing voice as he meekly replied to the angry student who demanded to know who he thought he was to take pictures of strangers like a creep. “I don’t think I’m anybody,” the man said. “Please stop.” The student was understandably shocked and confused as to why this adult man was crying like a child. The man continued, saying that it was fine for the student to cancel him and that he was nobody. After confirming that the photo was completely deleted, the student told the man to leave.
When the video was uploaded online, many internet users were shocked and bewildered to see a grown man crying after being confronted by a student. “Ah yes, reverse victimhood while simultaneously breaking the law,” one Redditor commented. Others began theorizing about why the man had taken the pictures in the first place. Some argued that the man might have found the student attractive. “I could be wrong, but I’m getting vibes that he found the Black man attractive and was taking creep shots of him,” one Redditor wrote.
Others remarked that they had met people like the Texas man before, people who cry and play the victim whenever they are told they did something wrong. “I had an ex like this, white guy, and when he would get told he was ignorant, he would just yell ‘I’m not racist!’ and run to the room crying. It’s so perplexing,” another commenter shared.
