There are a lot of different ways to make money. However, one man reveals his strange and unconventional method to “get by,” which earns him thousands of dollars, as well as a stay in a luxury rehab in California. Recently, debate sparked when a social media user shared their experience of getting paid for rehab treatment they didn’t need, and many others raised their eyebrows at his experience.
This week, a man posted his experience with gaming the rehab system on the AMA Reddit page. The user revealed that he was staying at a lavish California facility for 28 days and that he could fly back to his hometown well rested and with an extra $6,000 in his pocket at the end of his stay.
“I currently am sitting in a luxury rehab in California and after 28 days I’ll get $6,000 for it. The game is fraud. They’re billing my insurance for stuff that isn’t happening. The market is also so saturated (there are so many different treatment centers in SoCal) that they have to pay a premium to fill a bed. Been doing this to get by for 7 years. Flying home next month,” the post revealed.
Man Reveals $6K Payout For Luxury California Rehab Stay
Of course, many had questions about how this worked and if the man actually needed rehab treatment to begin with. The original poster admitted that the first time it happened he actually “needed” treatment. However, once he began treatment and found out that he could get money for the stay, he “started going back” for the cash.
When asked why he was getting paid for the experience, he laid it out in the forum.
“They’re gonna bill for $200k, get around 80-90k, and break down my marketer. Billing takes forever so when they pay my marketer, it comes out of pocket for the most part. Like they haven’t seen the money for me yet,” he stated.
The poster revealed that he has plenty of downtime, even claiming he was lying in bed watching Netflix. He also confessed that the patients were allowed to leave the California rehab center.
“I get a massive room, one roommate if they’re even here, a private bath, all that,” he boasted.
Many called out the practice as blatant insurance fraud. However, others commended the man for getting paid while also receiving treatment as at least a former addict. It’s a hot-button issue that shines a light on California’s rehab centers.
