A mobile manicurist was offering manicures in a Texas business district. She wanted to park by a bunch of businesses to increase her visibility. So, police told her to ask them for permission. So, she did. But one salon owner, whom she calls a “Karen,” had a problem with this. This led to a confrontation and argument that she never expected over trying to run her business.
Dae (@thedaewest) owns a mobile manicure bus and travels for clients. After speaking with police, she recently asked various businesses if she could park her bus in the area. After parking there, however, a salon owner in the area wasn’t happy about her business being so close. She messaged Dae on Facebook, telling her to move her bus, as she “doesn’t have a permit to park here.”
Dae explained to the salon owner that she asked multiple people if she could park there. But the owner, Rhonda, responded with an attitude. She told Dae that Dae “didn’t ask the management company” for permission and that she’s not allowed to park there. When Dae asked Rhonda who she is, she responded, “I’m the one telling you to move along and trying to give you a heads up. It’s about to be towed.”
Dae decided to take matters into her own hands, entered the salon to speak with Rhonda, and recorded what happened next. She said she was allegedly given express permission to park there. Rhonda says she’ll call the police, and Dae tells her she’s being “very nosy.” The two fight back and forth until another worker says, “Get out of the salon! You need to go.” Dae backs off, calling the woman a “Karen” as they follow her and tell her to “get out.” Rhonda meets Dae at the door and tells her that she doesn’t think she’s licensed and shouldn’t be there.
In an update video, Rhonda went around to all the business owners in the area and recorded them saying they didn’t have a problem with her parking there. She explained her situation to them and told them that police were called on her just for being in an area where she was told she was permitted to be. The worst part is that Dae parked her bus way out of the way next to some dumpsters at the back of the properties. She wasn’t in anybody’s way, but this owner had a big problem with her being there.
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, with many taking Dae’s side after watching the interaction between the women. One commenter stated, “She mad you might take their business.” Another added, “She went out of her way to look a stranger up on social media just to tell them they NEED to do something. And then calling you GIRL. Have mercy, the nerve!”
Other commenters disagreed with the way Dae handled matters. One commenter shared, “I’ll never understand why people think screaming and cursing is the most effective way to win an argument.” Another added, “The race card constantly is sooo exhausting.” Commenters continue to share their voices and opinions on Dae’s video as it gains popularity across TikTok.
