Another celebrity couple is calling it quits. This time, it’s beloved country music stars Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the “Rich” singer filed for divorce from her husband weeks ago on Monday, Oct. 2. Morris submitted the divorce documents in Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her and Hurd’s break up. The news comes five years after the pair tied the knot in March 2018. Since they were all smiles on social media, fans are understandably shocked to learn that Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are divorcing.
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd Break Up After Five Years of Marriage
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd first met in 2013 when they wrote Tim McGraw’s “Last Turn Home” together. Despite having undeniable chemistry, the pair didn’t begin dating right away. In fact, they remained friends and collaborators for two more years before their relationship turned romantic. After growing close, Morris and Hurd officially became a couple in December 2015.
Since then, the stars have documented their relationship on Instagram. In July 2017, Morris announced her and Hurd’s engagement by sharing photos of her engagement ring. Meanwhile, Hurd revealed the good news with a romantic snap of the couple on a boat, hinting that he popped the question on the water. Less than a year later, Morris and Hurd got married in Nashville, Tennessee, in March 2018. The couple then revealed they were expecting their first child in October 2019. The stars made the announcement with a beautiful pregnancy photoshoot on Instagram. Morris and Hurd’s son, Hayes Andrew Hurd, arrived in March 2020.
Although Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have officially split, they’ll continue to co-parent their son together. The stars are each required to complete a four-hour parenting seminar as part of their divorce. According to People, Morris completed her seminar on Saturday, Oct. 14.
