Tom Selleck likes to keep things old school. At age 79, the actor has numerous accomplishments under his belt. However, he is set in his ways when it comes to making changes in his life. He admits that there are a few things that he has never done, but at this point, he has no interest in changing his ways now.
Tom Selleck Refuses to Email or Text
Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck enjoys the simple life. The actor recently revealed that he is very set in his ways. He prefers to avoid the Internet and any form of digital communication. It is hard to believe that in this day and age, Tom Selleck has NEVER sent an email or even a text.
During a recent interview with People Magazine, Tom Selleck stunned his fans by revealing that he refuses to email or text. Regardless of the situation, the actor claims he relies strictly on his wife, Jillie, to handle it.
Tom admits to googling himself on a rare occasion or two. ‘Occasionally, I’ve looked up my name. That started with the book, but I’ve never sent my email. I had a secretary. I’ve never texted anybody,’ states the actor.
Tom Describes Wife Jill as a Luxury
Regarding handling the communications, Tom Selleck reveals he has always had a secretary, or his wife Jill, to take charge. The former Friends cast member admitted it is a ‘luxury’ for his wife to happily reply to texts on his behalf. He said: ‘I have a certain luxury where I probably couldn’t survive otherwise.’

Selleck recalls his time on the soap opera The Young and the Restless, from 1974 to 1975, playing Jed Andrews, the love interest of Jaime Lyn Bauer’s Lorie Brooks. Another one of his early roles was a brief stint on The Dating Game. “I was Bachelor No. 2. I didn’t get the girl.”
However, it all worked out for the best. Tom Selleck later found his love and soulmate in his wife, Jillie Mack. The couple have been together for 37 years. ‘I’ve had a very good life, a very lucky life.’ He adds he is very content with his life and prefers to end his days now with a cigar and a glass of whisky and his wife by his side.
