When Mario Odyssey first trailer was revealed earlier this year fans were excited to see that the newest installment in the franchise would receive a modernize looked. A large focal point of that trailer was Mario’s hat, Cappy, showing that it would play a large role in the upcoming game.
After Nintendo’s E3 2017 Spotlight fans were given a closer look into just how the newest feature in the game would change the way that they play. Alongside being able to be used as a thrown weapon, the sentient object can transform Mario into whatever it is thrown into.
Different characters, enemies, objects, vehicles, the showcase revealed that the plumber can turn into anything from a Mario Tank to a Mario T-Rex.
The initial trailer showed off the new level landscapes, with cities, deserts and ice worlds, which the E3 trailer goes more into detail about as well. At one point in the new trailer, the game even shifts to an old-school, side-scrolling Mario experience, so it seems like Mario Odyssey is set to be a very unique and diverse Mario game.
