This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

During the Main Quest, “Come Rain Or Shine,” in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, players must confront and defeat a boss known as the Darkmess Tentacle. This large slimy creature sits atop the Lighthouse in Beacon Beach and has enveloped the top of the tower in a dark, black goop. Therefore, to progress further on their journey and restore the light of the Lighthouse, Mario and his companions must defeat this icky monstrosity. To begin this boss battle in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, head to the backside of the tower and interact with the “Light in the Darkness” combat sequence.

Destroy Darkmess Eyes in the boss fight with Darkmess Tentacle in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

To defeat the Darkmess Tentacle boss in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, players must “Destroy 11 Darkmess Eyes,” which are dotted about the body of the corrupt entity. The arena of this combat sequence offers plenty of spots for cover. However, there are also many enemy minions that will try to hinder Mario and his companions from achieving victory.

To destroy the Darkmess Eyes in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, players can use the Bob-ombs placed around the arena or a large frontal AoE attack, such as Princess Peach’s Broom-Bella. With proper positioning, these two offensive approaches will enable fans to take out up to three eyes in a single move. Keep in mind that the Bob-ombs will attempt to explode and damage the party members, so throwing these mobs at other enemies or the eyes should take priority over using an ability. Based on gameplay footage by YouTuber Zebra Gamer, players can use the Dash move to flip Bob-ombs over, enabling them to be picked up and thrown.

However, players might find themselves in a pinch when all the Darkmess Eyes on one side have been destroyed but cannot easily reach the opposite side. A clever strategy would be to have Princess Peach Team Jump from another character and glide to a spot where she has a good angle to use Broom-Bella again. If players are still unable to take out the rest of the eyes in a single turn, take cover to avoid incoming enemy attacks. Next, rush to remaining eyes and hurl a Bob-omb at them to defeat the Darkmess Tentacle boss in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
