Mark Ruffalo has always been one of the most outspoken Hollywood activists in the industry, and this time around, he has voiced out his support for the LA protest against ICE agents and the Trump administration’s deportation policies. In fact, out of all celebrities who spoke out against ICE and Trump, the Hulk actor is one of the most passionate.
Mark Ruffalo recently took to Instagram to post a long letter to people who are complaining about the LA protests and to the authorities themselves. The summary of his post is that the US is now in an oligarchy, and he has even likened the ICE agents to the KKK, as Ruffalo claims they’re just as racist and just as wrong, especially when carrying out the Trump administration’s policies. Furthermore, the Avengers actor didn’t mince words and called Trump a grifter. Here’s the post:
To end his long letter, Ruffalo also reached out to the ICE agents, police, and the army themselves, asking them to reconsider who they’re pledging their allegiance to. Because at the end of the day, they’ll end up going home to their families and perhaps even neighbors to whom they pointed their guns.
“Is it possible you are pointing your minds and hearts in the wrong direction and awarding those who do not deserve your allegiance with your precious time and lives and the anger and fear that drives you senseless and makes you do things today that yesterday were not in you, and tomorrow you will come to regret?
It’s all wrong. Please won’t you see you are pointing your guns in the wrong direction. We aren’t the ones killing you. Don’t shoot your friends,” says Mark Ruffalo
Ruffalo’s post has since gone viral and quickly become one of the highlights among all the celebrities supporting the LA protests against ICE. Other celebrities who have joined Ruffalo in their campaign include Pedro Pascal, Tyler the Creator, Eva Longoria, Marisa Tomei, Halle Berry, and even Chrissy Teigen.
Teigen herself posted a long message as well, urging the people of LA and even other states in the US to protest against President Donald Trump on June 14. June 14 also happens to be Donald Trump’s birthday, where he also plans to throw a huge $45 million military parade, apparently, to combine the birthday celebration with the 250th anniversary of the US Army.
Fans are Proud of Mark Ruffalo and Other Celebs
So while the start of June was marked by widespread protests and riots in Los Angeles, the recent support and calls-to-action from high-profile celebrities might just add more spark to the movement. You can expect the mass protests to grow even bigger come June 14.
Mark Ruffalo certainly has plenty of fans, but it appears they’ve never been prouder of the actor, as many are now praising him for his more empathetic approach. Perhaps it wasn’t a coincidence then that one of his most famous roles in Hollywood is a clever symbolism for anger management and anger issues.
