Married to Medicine has gotten a lot of buzz as its 10th season premiered. With the ladies of the show focused on the women in and around Atlanta’s medical community getting more shine, Bravo fans are celebrating that viewers are showing the series more love than ever before. There are so many newcomers to the Married to Medicine fanbase that many people aren’t aware the show has been on Bravo since March 2013. With fans comparing the performance to The Real Housewives of Atlanta — especially with the addition of RHOA favorite Phaedra Parks to the cast — longtime viewers are ready to share why the show is even better than most expect.
Phaedra Parks Hasn’t Shied Away From Discussing the Differences Between the Series
Upon joining the cast in season 10 after appearing as a guest in season 3, Phaedra Parks told PEOPLE about the big differences between Married to Medicine and RHOA:
“Well, these girls are very intelligent, and they have careers and jobs. I’ve totally enjoyed the whole cast. They’ve been really great,” she shared. “Now, some of them are a little crazy. A few of ’em [are] a little messy. But you know, it’s been good. I mean, it’s a great combination.”
The Bravo mainstay said that the women of Married to Medicine “really support one another,” and she’s come to appreciate the sense of “camaraderie.”
“That’s what I really love about it. They’re not like cutthroat like the Housewives, baby. They’re cutthroat. They go for blood,” she said of her former castmates.
The new set, “They [are] cutting other things — they cutting out the bad parts, but they’re not trying to kill you,” she jokes of their medical backgrounds.
With fans feeling the RHOA cast is on the decline, Married to Medicine holds some serious appeal.
Prior to the new season of Married to Medicine, fans were already discussing the last season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, wondering what the series needed to spice things up again. Citing repetitive storylines, some went as far as to speculate the franchise could use a Real Housewives of New York-style reboot with a fresh cast.
The concerns with the RHOA cast came up again as fans who have started watching Married to Medicine recommend the series.
“They don’t have a single bad season to their name,” one fan said of Married to Medicine. “I beat myself up about not watching them way sooner as I was binging it.”
Another viewer tweeted at Bravo, telling the network RHOA needs to “stop forcing toxic storylines, adding, “The production team for Married to Medicine really knows what they are doing.”
“Married to Medicine is the best show on Bravo,” another fan wrote. “I’ve been watching since episode one, and it never disappoints.”
