Earlier this year, Square Enix released Marvel’s Avengers for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. At launch, the game received mixed reviews with most being less than favorable. Since launch, Marvel’s Avengers has reportedly lost over 96% of its player base. Back in October, Square Enix had planned to release Kate Bishop but postponed the release to fix some of the game’s issues. Since then, the game’s community has waited for an update on when to expect the next playable character. On November 18, Square Enix sent out an email, stating that new information about Kate Bishop would be released on November 19.
During the Marvel Avengers‘ direct yesterday, Crystal Dynamics announced that Kate Bishop would be joining the team. Operation: Kate Bishop – Taking Aim will start on December 8, 2020. This new chapter of Marvel’s Avengers will also introduce a new enemy, known as the Super Adaptoid. The Super Adaptoid has the ability to mimic the Avengers attacks and abilities. The Super Adaptoid will test players’ skills and their ability to adapt.
What is Taking Aim?
So what is Taking Aim, you may ask? After the events of Marvel’s Avengers, Kate Bishop, a master of archer and gymnastics, remerges after her mentor Clint Barton (Hawkeye) has gone missing. After the events of A-Day, Barton and Bishop decided to look for Nick Fury following his disappearance. Along the way, Bishop uncovers a new plan by AIM that requires her to work with the Avengers once again. In addition to the disappearance, Kate Bishop seeks to discover the sudden cause of Tachyon Rifts.
Taking Aim is just the first half of the two-part Hawkeye Story Arc. Clint Barton’s Hawkeye will be added to Marvel’s Avengers in early 2021. This two-part story will be the beginning of a new Avengers Initiative.
Will you be returning to Marvel’s Avengers to play as Kate Bishop or does Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers not deserve a second chance?
