Ever since its announcement trailer at E3 2016, fans have been speculating on what characters will be appearing in Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Iconic villains such as Doctor Octopus, Scorpion, Shocker, Vulture, Rhino, and Electro have been confirmed to be in the game but many have questioned whether or not we would see the alien symbiote. More specifically one of Spider-Man’s most notorious enemies, Venom.

Art Director at Insomniac Games, Jacinda Chew, was answering questions about the game on Twitter. One fan asked how big was Venom? Chew replied:

Peter is 6ft in the game. https://t.co/mUVdchpHyM

Venom first made his appearance in the 1980s and has been a fan-favorite ever since. He has appeared numerous times in the Spider-Man Animated Series and the character officially made his theatrical debut in 2007’s Spider-Man 3. Eddie Brock is the most well-known host for the Venom symbiote but it has taken others like Mac Gargan (Scorpion), Flash Thompson, and even Deadpool. It’s safe to say that we will never see that last one in live-action form.

The antihero will be getting his own solo film this October with Tom Hardy (Inception, Dark Knight Rises) as Eddie Brock AKA Venom.

Spider-Man

Back to Marvel’s Spider-Man. While Venom won’t be making an appearance, that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t be available in the future via DLC or a future installment of the series. Venom probably wouldn’t have fit in this game anyway as it seems that Insomniac Games will be adapting their own version of the Sinister Six. Characters like Miles Morales and possibly even Doctor Strange are also rumored to appear.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will release September 7th, 2018 as a Sony exclusive.

Are you disappointed to hear that Venom won’t be in the game? Who are you hoping to see make a surprise cameo? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us here at The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
