Maryland Politican Denied Entry to ICE Facility by Agents, ‘They Just Don’t Want the American People to See’

That’s so inhumane

The agents working with ICE across the country seem to believe they are superior to most law enforcers, largely due to their perception by the current presidential administration. Whether American citizens want it or not, masked vigilantes who kidnap those of Hispanic descent have gone rampant lately. Most recently, Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen attempted to enter a facility where many of these tragedies are happening behind closed doors. Unfortunately, he didn’t get far as ICE agents blocked him before he could walk through the front doors.

Senator Chris Van Hollen says ICE blocked him and other lawmakers from entering a facility, despite having a legal right to do so.

In the video above, Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland discusses his side of the story concerning when ICE agents quite literally locked him out of a detainment facility. He goes over that via various sources and testimonies, people who were taken from their neighborhoods and brought here are facing horrendous living conditions. So, he decided to check it out for himself. The Senator had a right to be there, as indicated by the sign on the front door, which welcomed all who wished to enter.

Eventually, the acting Director makes herself known and acts as an audience for the Senator and the other members of Congress he had brought with him. He reads out a section of the law that states that members of Congress, on behalf of their constituents, can view these sorts of holding facilities. However, despite what the law says, he was still turned away.

Van Hollen goes on to say that this behavior makes it clear those in charge have no intention of showing the American people what’s happening under ICE’s watch. More specifically, he says, “They just don’t want the American people to see what’s happening behind closed doors.“

The current political climate has been tumultuous since the presidential administration’s inauguration earlier this year. Hopefully, this particular scenario will prompt other state Senators to visit the facilities on their turf.
